The facilities at Boothbed Lane are owned and managed by the Charitable Trust, with Affiliated Sports Clubs having dedicated times to play, both socially and in competitions. At other times, the facilities are available for use by all Members.

Tennis

Astroturf: Our lovely new astroturf is now available for play for Registered Users so we hope that lots of you will come and use it! But please, NO studded footwear of any kind!

Goostrey Tennis Club is a welcoming, friendly group of people who enjoy playing tennis in the village. The Club has dedicated court time and runs  social play, coaching for children and adults, informal tournaments, competitions and social occasions. For those who enjoy playing competitively, the Club enters both men’s and women’s teams into the South & Mid Cheshire League.

Football

The Goostrey Friendly Football Club meets at 7pm every Monday night to play football on the all-weather astroturf. At least 10 players are needed for a game but sometimes as many as 20 turn up! Guests can play a few times times for free before deciding whether to join. The Club is affiliated to the Village Hall Playing Fields Foundation and all ages and genders are welcome.

Bowls

Goostrey Bowling Club runs multiple teams playing in local leagues, including:

  • Congleton Vets (Monday afternoons)
  • Knutsford League (Tuesday evening)
  • Holmes Chapel League (Wednesday evening)
  • Knutsford Vets (Thursday afternoon)
  • Knutsford Friday League (Friday evening)

In addition, there is a “roll-up & play” every Saturday throughout the season at 2pm starting late March and running weekly to late September, weather permitting!

In May 2023, a new Bowls Clubhouse was officially opened by Fiona Bruce (our local MP) and Ian O’Donoghue (Chairman, Goostrey Parish Council). Significant funding for the project was raised from external sources, including Goostrey Parish Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Internal fitting out of the facilities was carried out by Bowls Club members.

A group of VHPFF members meets socially every Monday morning to play (10am – 12noon during April to September). For further information, please contact John Thorp (Tel: 01477 549653).

Note: The Bowling Green is closed during the winter months (October to March)

There is an area beside the Football Pitch which can be used for croquet. Mallets and balls etc are available for use.

Table Tennis

Goostrey Table Tennis Club meets in the Sports Pavilion on various days during the week. Whether you already play table tennis, or wish to learn, new members are always welcome.

Pickleball

Court 3 on the astroturf has marking in blue for 2 Pickleball courts and from January 2026, Goostrey Pickleball becomes a VHPFF Affiliated Club. Nets are provided together with padels & balls for those who do not have their own equipment, with dedicated times for Club activities.
